Mission
Our mission is to promote Bridge and the American Contract Bridge League.
We are the Diablo Valley Unit 499, with over 700 ACBL members and the area we cover is Contra Costa County.
The unit is run by volunteers who are elected to a Unit Board of Directors.
Numerous duplicate bridge clubs hold weekly tournaments in the area. Players are awarded ACBL masterpoints and are publicized on web sites and ACBL publications when they win. Competition is usually flighted, where players with similar masterpoint levels are ranked. We have numerous bridge classes and tutoring is available. The unit also sponsors special duplicate tournaments that award extra masterpoints.
Games in the Unit
We currently have four bridge club managers that hold over 20 weekly duplicate bridge tournaments between them. Six of the games are invitational, requiring that you belong to their club or live in the Rossmoor community (or are their guest). The other games are open to the public with a variety of masterpoint requirements. See our competition web page or the club's web site for more information. There is a supervised Rubber Bridge game held at 9:30am Saturday mornings at The Bridge Center, 2219 Morello Ave., Pleasant Hill, CA, 925-676-4414.
On-line Results
Tournament directors will produce results using the ACBLSCOR computer program and a volunteer will upload it to the game's web site. The on-line results allow players to review results at home, and allow them leave tournaments as soon as they're over. If you would like to help upload tournament results please contact a director and review our upload instructions.
Web Site
Unit 499 sponsors this web site. It had a facelift on Jan 21, 2007 by webmaster Bill George. The previous Unit 499 Web site was created and maintained by Bob Martin for many years. Bob intends to relocate to Arizona and needed to transfer responsibility of the unit's Web site.

Please thank volunteers Betty and Howard Seymour, Ed Stokes and your directors who upload tournament results to the websites.
